Little Cookie Monsters

Today, I had the brilliant idea to decorate cookies with the kids! I don't know what I was thinking. I got up and started making sugar cookie dough at 9:00 a.m. Then I made icing in 6 different colors. Then I rolled out the cookies and made ghosts, pumpkins and cats. So finally at 1:00 p.m. I was ready to decorate cookies. Madison, Abby, my niece Sarah, my friend Heather and her son Gavyn enjoyed an afternoon of decorating and eating cookies. Madison went crazy with the sprinkles. She had them all over the place. I think they all thought that the more frosting they used the better. I sent them all out afterwards to the trampoline to jump it off. They were completely loaded with sugar!! Again, what was I thinking!!

Had to add a picture of Bella!! She has had a good day. She slept until 6:30 this a.m. I think she is finally getting the hang of days and nights. Bella however did not get to eat any sugar cookies. She was instead taking a nap during that time.

I loved the pics of Bella in her dress. :) She definitely fills it out now! I love seeing her in her stroller/pink seat too! Make sure you tell her to think of me whenever you put her in it and give her a kiss from me.

Tell Abby and Madison I miss seeing them too. Madison eaten anything interesting lately? Tell her snails are a delicacy in some countries. :)

Story of Isabella Grace Gudde

Isabella was born December 23, 2006. She was born with a congenital heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus. She also was diagnosed with a deletion on her 22nd chromosome known as DiGeorge Syndrome. She had her first open heart surgery Febuary 27, 2007. She had 5 med flights last year. She had pulmonary hypertension and kept going into respiratory distress. After the 4th med flight, they decided to put in a trach and put her on the ventilator. She was home for 4 days before she was flown back. The fifth time was the worst. I really thought we were going to lose her. She again showed great strength and determination. She had a cardiac arrest on Aug 1, 2007. She was left brain damaged and we were told she was blind and deaf. Matt and I never accepted this fate and as time has gone on we have seen miracle after miracle. Bella now has her hearing back and much of her sight. She is still very far behind, but is making progress everyday. She came home September 12, 2007 after spending almost 160 days at Childrens Mercy in 2007. She was at home up until this February. She went in for her monthly check up and we found out she had a huge aneurysm at the conduit site on her heart. She underwent her second open heart surgery on February 21, 2008, just 6 days short from being one year post op from her first surgery. She is now home and doing fabulous.
